Russian Winter Weekend, 6 – 8 December 2018

 

DORICH HOUSE MUSEUM PRESENTS RUSSIAN WINTER WEEKEND 

6 – 8 DECEMBER  2018

A Russian themed weekend of events and activities for the whole family including a Pop Up Café serving Tea, Coffee and Russian inspired cakes on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 December.

Thursday 6 December 

From Russia with Love Kingston 6.30 – 9.00pm
A seasonal Evening Reception celebrating the charitable work of Love Kingston. Drinks, canapés and Museum tours along with Russian influenced music by students from the Department of Performing Arts, Kingston University.

Boxed Christmas vouchers to adorn the Dorich House Museum Christmas tree will be on sale on the night and these will be given to the Kingston Young Carers, a charity supported by Love Kingston

All ticket proceeds donated to Love Kingston which supports communities in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

Friday 7 December

Russian Collection tour with Dr Louise Hardiman 11.30am
Our volunteer guide, Dr Louise Hardiman MA (London) PhD (Cantab) is an art historian specialising in Russian art and culture. Alongside writing and lecturing as an independent scholar, she has worked as a research assistant on a project at Oxford University called ‘Russomania: British Modernism and the Translation of Russian Culture’. In 2014 she was a consultant to Watts Gallery on the exhibition ‘A Russian Fairy Tale: The Art and Craft of Elena Polenova’:  more recently, she was advisor to BBC4 on the documentary ‘Empire of the Tsars: Romanov Russia with Lucy Worsley (2016). In 2017 she was a postdoctoral Fellow at the Paul Mellon Centre, and is currently  working on her book on the history of Russian Art in Victorian and Edwardian Britain.

Saturday 8 December

All Day Free Art Activities from 11.00am
In addition to our Regular Guided tour at 11 30am, we will be running an all day drop in Art workshop where visitors are invited to design and create their own Russian inspired Christmas decoration.

Dorich House Museum is Open Thursday – Saturday 11 30 – 5 00pm, last entry at 4 30pm.

Regular Museum entry fees apply unless otherwise stated.
