DORICH HOUSE MUSEUM AT THE ICONIC HOUSES NETWORK CONFERENCE

As members of the Iconic Houses Network, Dorich House Museum and Kingston University’s Modern Interiors Research Centre participated in the 4th Iconic Houses Network Conference. Hosted by the Getty Conservation Institute at the Getty Center in Los Angeles, the conference brought together curators, owners, heritage, and conservation experts to discuss the challenges that most affect stewardship of the architecturally significant houses in their care. Combining workshops, conference sessions, networking events and a programme of visits to some of the most remarkable private houses in and around the city, the conference created a opportunities for members to exchange professional knowledge while getting to know each other and each other’s houses. It was an eventful week for modern architecture in Los Angeles. We were privileged to visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s George D. Sturges House (1939) on the eve of its auction and our visit to John Lautner’s Sheats-Goldstein residence coincided with the announcement that its current owner will donate it to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
