Art Fund | Jonathan Ruffer Curatorial Grant

We are delighted to announce that Dorich House Museum has been awarded a Jonathan Ruffer curatorial grant by Art Fund. The funding will support the research and cataloguing of the museum’s unique collection of Russian porcelain, established by Richard Hare at Dorich House from the 1940s, which includes examples of Imperial Manufactory tableware, Russian Easter eggs, sculptural figures and monumental vases. We look forward to working with our project collaborators Dr Louise Hardiman (independent art historian and specialist in Russian art) and Dr Elena Vorushilina (Head of the Ceramic Department at the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum in Moscow) in developing this research.

In conjunction with this project, we would welcome information from anyone with knowledge of Richard Hare’s activities as a collector, or who acquired porcelain objects at auction from the sale of The Dora Gordine and Richard Hare Collection of Russian Porcelain, Works of Art and Icons at Phillips in London on Tuesday 15 November 1994 or through subsequent sales. Please contact us at: dorichhousemuseum@kingston.ac.uk.
