Tuesday 15 July | 1 – 4pm | £5 or free for Kingston University students | BOOK HERE

Join multidisiplinary designer and researcher Angela Ford for a sculptural plaster casting and mould making workshop using recyled and found materials.

The workshop will start with a tour of Angela’s current exhibition at Dorich House Museum The Raw Origins of a Diaspora: Part 2Angela will talk about her artistic practice under the name Studio Raw Origins and her approach to using raw materials.

The workshop offers a basic intorduction to plaster casting and mould making where you will learn to use reused plant-based drinks and juice cartons – such as those from Tetra Pak – along with recycled card to create moulds. These everyday packaging materials are commonly used in the UK and are an excellent way to explore creative recycling in art.

You will also be shown how to incorporate natural earth pigments to give the plaster a warm red tone. Once your cast has set, you’ll be able to take your sculptural pieces home.

By repurposing packaging waste, this workshop encourages a hands-on approach and highlights the creative potential of non-recycleable materials.

No prior knowledge or skills are required. Please bring your own plastic bag to take your sculpture home.
