Undiminished: Rebalancing the female narrative of menopause

Thursday 4 June – Saturday 25 July 2026 | Free/Drop-in

Dr Francesca Arrigoni-Halliday is an Associate Professor in Physiology and Pharmacology at Kingston University. Having recently completed the MA Illustration at Kingston School of Art, she has been able to test how visual methods, when used well, can sharpen scientific understanding, especially for students tackling complex biomedical ideas.

As both a scientist and artist, Francesca has embarked on an extended research project that explores menopause through the lens of cellular biology, historical symbolism, and personal experience.  Undiminished: Rebalancing the female narrative of menopause explores this powerful and often misunderstood stage of life, bridging women’s health, science communication, and visual storytelling.

The exhibition at Dorich House Museum will comprise of an illustrated manuscript, a chandelier, and stained-glass windows, each a distinct yet interconnected vehicle for inquiry. Together they explore menopause through material, metaphor, and visibility.

Anticipating the launch of the exhibition, Francesca will be leading two 90 minute creative workshops on the morning of Thursday 21 May starting at 9:30 and 11:30 at Dorich House Museum. Book your free ticket via Eventbrite.

Francesca will also be leading further public workshops on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 June. Keep an eye out for further details.
